If you'd like to advertise Street Pastors yourself, you may use the following PowerPoint presentation:

And flyers

I'd also suggest using some of the Street Pastors YouTube videos :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5lFgvEQ5Ik (Christmas - 3mins)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRuP3ySm8cI (Lincoln - 8 mins)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NokodTxJ4Ts (Aberdeen - 6 mins)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlmicbtR9mo (Cheltenham - 6 mins)

(Note you can download videos from YouTube using the following: http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/products/dvd/Free-YouTube-Download.htm )

Particular attention to follow up:

Brendan Basset - Vic Park Baptist - planned to be at meeting on 30th May

Ray Viera - independently contacted Ascension Trust

Philip Nott - Easton Christian Family Centre - supportive on 17th

Elim -  large, near centre

Christchurch - large student population

Hannah Hart - Broadmead Baptist

Vicky Wright - Bishopston/St Andrews Parish

Tim Higgins - City Canon (Cathedral/St Stephens - ISR)

Probably need to meet up with some of these.

Spectrum 2012 took place on Saturday 19th May 2012

Street Pastors was one of 50+ organisations represented at this showcase of Christian Ministries in Bristol held at the Anglican Cathedral.

A fair amount of interest at the (decidedly amateurish) stand, and met with quite a few Bristol Nights volunteers, but highlights were

  • having a stand next to Pastor Ray Veira - who has just independently contacted Ascension Trust
  • meeting the Mayor & Lady Mayoress who took time to find out about Street Pastors
  • having Street Pastors highlighted by Major Martin Hill (Salvation Army Divisional Commander for the South West) in front of the 100+ congregation including Bishops and other church leaders

Street Pastors Stage 3 meeting with Bristol church leaders took place on 17th April 2012

Adrian Prior-Sankey of the Ascension Trust presented the aims, vision, values and history of the Street Pastors project, then went on to explain the process which an area needs to go through to set up Street Pastors. The main points included:

  • need for a management committee composed of a range of church leaders (or their delegates)
  • need to sign license agreement with Ascension Trust
  • need to register with the Charity commission if annual income >£5000 - which we'd expect for Bristol
  • importance of the role of Co-ordinator
  • Volunteers need CRB check, church leader references and 50 hours of training, and to commit to one night per month
  • actively welcomed by Police and Council in Bristol

Adrian then answered a range of questions

It was agreed that the License Agreement should be distributed to all church leaders present to allow consideration.

A deadline of end of May would be set for church leaders to respond.

It was emphasised that not committing at this stage would not prevent churches from being involved.

Those present included (apologies if I left you off, we didn't actually take a register!):
