Bristol Street Pastors Commissioning takes place

Saturday 6th April 2013, 7:30pm-9:00pm

St Stephen's Church, 21 St Stephen's Ave, Bristol, BS1 1EQ

Following our launch at the Council House in September, our first batch of volunteer Street Pastors have spent the last few months training and are at last ready to start patrolling!

A celebration service will be held at St Stephens, the city's parish church (literally just off the city centre) and feature refreshments and a musical treat from the Voice of Hope Gospel Choir.

Eustace Constance, Operations Manager of the Ascension Trust will formally issue us our uniforms.

Please join us and to hear how Street Pastors will be making a positive difference to Bristol's nightlife.

In October, Mike Pout heard about Street Pastors, and contacted the Ascension Trust.

Through emailing contacts was put in touch with David Hart of Victoria Methodists church

In January, organised an 'Open Forum' meeting, 42 people attended from a wide range of churches, 30 of whom expressed an interest in Street Pastors, and 12 of whom expressed an interest in helping to organise.

From February, this interim Management Committee worked to progress Street Pastors, resulting in the Ascension Trust coming for a 'Stage 3' meeting in April.

At the Stage 3 meeting, the Ascension Trust outlined the aims, practicalities and process of getting set up.

At a meeting in May, the Constitution of Bristol Street Pastors was formalised, and a Management Committee elected.
